Horse Trial Season Has Started!

It’s that time of year again, a firm favourite for the head office team here at A Farley Country Attire. A time to spend nibbling and tippling through the local food and drink, socialising with friends, admiring the unique country clothing stands and of course, watching the horses and riders compete!

Dotted over the country there are plenty of events to to choose from. From dressage and cross country days to show jumping days, there is something to suit everyone. As usual, as the time approaches, the question of what to wear is raised with increasing regularity around the office between colleagues. It’s important not only to look the part but to also dress appropriately for the weather, we all know English weather too well!

At a time like this, there is no better place to work than here at head office, some of the team have discussed what oufits they will be wearing this year!

Adam Farley – Director

Adam says you can’t go wrong with the Barbour Chelsea Sportsquilt Jacket paired with a traditional Musto Sun Protection t-shirt underneath. A T-shirt for the sun, and Jacket incase the weather changes. For comfort and design, his favourite RM William Ramco Jeans, and to add a splash of colour to his outfit, his Pampeano Audaz Belt! Adams footwear choice are his trusty Le Chameau wellingtons!

Michael – Director

Michael enjoys a casual style, he picks his favourite Meyer M5 Jeans styled with the Classic Dubarry Carson Sweater. To stand out and add a bit of luxury, Michael picks his favourite RM Williams Kangaroo boots with a tanned patterned Estancia Pampeano Polo Belt.

Charlotte – Manager

Charlotte likes to take the opportunity of a horse trial event to really go all out! As also worn by Kate Middleton (who wore it first?) Charlotte opts for her luxury Dubarry Bracken Tweed Jacket in Heath. She pairs it with the iconic Dubarry Galway boots and finishes her look off with a Hicks & Brown fedora hat. Even her pet dog Martha fits in with her Barbour Tartan Collar!

Holly – Team Leader

For the member of the team that always demands the heating on, there is no shock Holly picked her top item to take to any horsing event is her Barbour Kelsall Jacket, offering warmth and protection from any rain! Holly pairs this with the lightweight Dubarry Howth jumper, perfect for layering and the matching Fairfax & Favor Imperial Explorers and Windsor Bag. Holly styles her Imperials with the Fairfax & Favor Coral Boot Tassels to add a bit of colour!

Emmie – Customer Advisor

You will never see Emmie without a pair of deck shoes on her feet, so it’s no surprise she picks the Dubarry Rhodes Deck Shoes as her footwear choice. As she is such a big fan of Dubarry she styles her deck shoes with the Dubarry Honeysuckle Jeans and the Dubarry Garbally Bag, which brings some colour for the bright summer days. She also picks the Barbour Bowfell Shirt, perfectly loose and light for the warmer weather.

Naomi – Customer Advisor & E-Commerce Assistant

Being the quirkier one of the group, Naomi likes to go for something a little different. Her favourite item in store to date is the Barbour Harewood striped dress and she pairs this with the Dubarry Waterproof Shannon jacket. Being the less horsey out of us all Naomi likes to opt for a Dubarry Jamaica Deck shoe to hit the shops, lightweight and comfortable. Naomi never goes anywhere without her Dubarry Umbrella!

We hope you enjoyed looking through Farleys top style picks for this season and we hope you enjoy the events as much as us!

Please see a list below of upcoming horse trials coming up over the next few months, see you there!

A Farleys Top UK Holiday Destinations For You and Your 4 Legged Friends!

With a dog loving nation (and a workplace full of dog owners here at A Farley) we thought we would share with you some of our favourite dog friendly destinations to visit in the UK along with accommodation and restaurant recommendations!

Because we believe every dog also deserves a holiday!

The Peak District

The Peak District National Park in central England and Derbyshire features steep limestone valleys and pretty little towns. You can enjoy taking time out with your dog to ramble through the woodland or climb the stony peaks. For older dogs or pups, there are plenty of gardens to take a leisurely strolls and admire the scenery.

There is a vast range of accommodation to choose from, from cosy converted barns, stone cottages and luxury manors. One of our favourite locations to stay is Bakwell which is well known for its unique and delicious Pudding , the Bakewell Tart! We love Bolehill Farm Holiday Cottages set in 20 acres of ground, making the perfect place to stay. For dinner time take a trip to the The Castle for a pub style dinner in a 16th century inn featuring a cosy bar!

Photos sourced from and

Featured in the East of England, Norfolk offers miles of walking on the Heritage Coast exploring the coastal villages and climbing the sand dunes on the vast sandy beaches.

The most perfect location and beach for walkies we believe is Wells-Next-to-The-Sea. A picturesque dog-friendly beach, where dogs can have complete free range.  After a long day on the beach visit The Globe Inn for delicious food and a few drinks

Our top pick to stay in this area is Burnham Cottage in wells! You can never go wrong with a log burner!

Featured in the south west of England, Devon comprises of white sandy beaches and fossil cliffs. The English Riviera offer a series of picturesque, south-coast harbour towns. Devon is a very popular holiday destination for pet owners as the majority of Devons pristine beaches have little to no dog restrictions even during the summer months. With Miles of white sandy beaches and clear blue water what’s not to love for you and your 4 legged friend!

We love this gorgeous estary view apartment featured on the water’s edge and there is plently to choose from in Salcombe . Sitting outside on a summers day in Salcombe has often been compared to sitting out in the south of france! Take an afternoon stroll down to the winking prawn and feast on fresh sea food and deliciously cooked bbq food.

The Lake District

Another amazing location to visit with the dogs, of course, is the stunning Lake District in Cumbria. With miles and miles of walking trails and breath-taking views, you and your dog are set to have the greatest holiday.

One of A Farleys top Lake district locations is Grasmere, featured in the centre of the lake district with the well-known Grasmere lake. Grasmere has plenty to do from hikes, coffee shop stops and of course a visit to the famous gingerbread shop to get the UKs best gingerbread!

Grasmere offers lots of holiday cottages to stay in, our favourite is The Grange End Coach house where even your pooch will be left a little treat!

After a long day walking take a trip to the Travellers Inn for a scrumptious pub dinner! Sit outside and admire the beautiful scenery! We recommend the fish!

While there is so many beautiful desintations in the UK we truly believe visiting any of the above will leave long lasting memories for you and your dog!

Dont forget……we have a huge range of walking and hiking products available on our website for your holidays! CHECK OUT HERE! Plus products for your 4 legged friends CHECK OUT HERE

A Farley’s Guide to Country Shows

a-farley-country-attire-summer-show-leicestershire (Photo sourced from country file live website)

Summer is upon us and the country shows up and down the country are in full swing. Whether you’re there to sample local foods and crafts, admire the farming machinery, take your chances in the dog show or appreciate the magnificent livestock, A Farley want to make sure you’re ready for your fun filled day out.

a-afarley-country-attire-summer-show-leicester  a-afarley-country-attire-summer-show-leicester  a-afarley-country-attire-summer-show-leicester

If you’ve never been to a country show before, you may be wondering what to wear? If you have, you may be looking for a bit of outfit inspiration. The most important thing to remember and keep in mind when planning your outfit, comfort! A day out at a country show can be long and you will walk far, so think about how practical your outfit is. British weather is unpredictable, so think layers! We recommend a Dubarry Clematis Shirt, which the sleeves can be rolled in warmer weather, layered with the Dubarry Blackwater Jumper, a pair of RM Williams Alice Skinny Jeans and a Barbour Beadnell Wax Jacket, lightweight enough it can be thrown into a bag yet waterproof to protect you from those surprise showers!

RM Williams - Ladies Alice Jeans - Skinny Fit - Medium Wash   Dubarry-Clematis-Ladies-Shirt-White   dubarry-blackwater-malbec-3519-35

Being on your feet all day, we recommend you wear safe, reliable but comfy and not forgetting stylish footwear. If you’re familiar with country Shows you will be familiar with seeing RM Williams and Dubarry, Fairfax and Favour left right and centre. Perhaps a RM Williams Comfort Craftsman Boot, stylish yet well known for durability with the rubber sole or perhaps the famous Galway Dubarry boots or the Fairfax & Favor Imperial Explorer, perfect come rain or shine. However, with the recent temperatures soaring and you might fancy something a little lighter, perhaps a Dubarry or Barbour Sailmaker Deck shoe to go with your summer chinos or flowery dress. If it’s a washout (and fingers crossed it’s not) the traditional Wellington boot is also great option!

The key to dressing up any outfit! A Hicks & Brown Guinea and Pheasant Felt Fedora transforms any outfit and instantly jazzes it up, with the addition of the Dubarry Tullynally Pheasant Silk Scarf you will really look the part. A moderate sized bag with a cross body strap is essential, big enough to hold a bottle of water, your purse, keys and any sneaky purchases! We love the Fairfax & Favor Pembroke Handbag or the Fairfax & Favor Windsor Handbag.

And lastly…

Enjoy the local food, drink plenty of water, don’t forget the sunscreen and most importantly enjoy your day out!
